Welcome To

Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College Swabi

The Cadet College is dedicated to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed (NH). He was born on 1st January 1970 and was commissioned in the Army on 14th October 1994. Captain Karnal Sher Khan emerged as a symbol of courage during the Kargil conflict. He set personal examples of bravery and inflicted heavy losses on the enemy. He defended the five strategic posts, which he established in collaboration with his soldiers at the height of 17,000 feet at Gultary, and repulsed many Indian attacks. After many abortive attempts, the Indians on 5th July 1999, ringed the posts of Captain Karnal Sher Khan with the help of two battalions and unleashed heavy mortar fire and managed to capture some part of one of his posts. Despite all odds, he led a counter-attack and re-captured the lost parts of his post. But during the encounter, he was hit by the machine-gun fire and embraced 'SHAHADAT'. In recognition of his great sacrifice, he was awarded the highest gallantry award Nishan-e-Haider. The college is dedicated to him who is the son of the soil.
His faith and courage remain an inspiration for the people of Pakistan.

History & Evolution

In order to pay tribute to the unprecedented sacrifice of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed (NH), Karnal Sher Khan Cadet College was established at village Ismaila, Swabi. The then President of Pakistan Gen Pervaiz Musharraf's visit to the Mausoleum of Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed (NH) brought the glad tidings of this magnificent enterprise. Both KP and Federal governments allotted 820 acres of land for the construction of the College. A total of 372-16 acres of land was allocated in village Ismaila coupled with 448-01 acres of land, apportioned in village Adina for the construction of a commodious College. Commander Peshawar Logistic Area Brigadier Zafar Ullah Khan and his team played a vital role in the procurement of land for the College and its subsequent construction. Commander 11 Corps Lt. Gen Ali Muhammad Jan Orakzai was designated as the Chairman Board of Governors (BOGs) who presided over the earth breaking ceremony on 8th March 2004. After the completion of Phase I in February 2011, it was decided to make the College functional from September 2011.

On 3rd June 2011, first formal meeting was held between the Project Director and the Chairman BOGs to decide appointment of Principal and selection of Faculty. The selection panel was headed by Lt. Gen Asif Yasin Malik Chairman BOGs. Brigadier Faqir Riaz Yunus, a magnanimous soul, was designated to be the first Principal of the College with a thorough background relevant to some of the elite institutions of the country.
